Music Creation Tools

beatlab

Super easy site to use. You are provided a grid with selected sounds. Just click on the dots in the grid to start playing a note. You can adjust the tempo, add more sounds, change the sounds provided through their catalog, or upload your own. You can also change the genre that the notes are from.

font de music

Type in a message, choose the genre of music, adjust the color, font, & size of the letters to create a bouncing musical performance. Simple to share with a unique URL to pass it along. Another great site for elementary students.

Here are a couple of lesson ideas,
  • For vocabulary, have students create a song on what the word should sound like.
  • As a beginning of the year activity, with their names. If they had a song for their name, what would it be.

Incredibox

Create human beat-box like music with style. This site is fun, engaging, simple, & quick. The sounds are all created with human beat box, like the artist Bobby McFerrin. You get little guys that you drag & drop in effects, beats, melodies, chorus, or voices. A total of seven sounds you can add together. Mix the different sounds together to create a song with a great beat. I think this site is simple enough that elementary students could use it & would have fun with it.

Isle of Tune

Create music by creating a city. Just drag & drop homes, light posts, trees, etc..., adjust the sound they make, & drop up to 3 cars in to play the music. You get a unique URL to use & share your creation. A great site for all ages, but especially for elementary. It is also available as an app for the iPad, iPod, & iPhone.

Soundation

Mix & remix music loops together to create original music. A little more GarageBand looking with the ability to mix & remix sound clips together. You get five tracks to place your clips to create original work. There is a gallery of 400 free sounds, or you can upload your own sounds. You can download your song or share it.

UJAM

This site can make anyone a great singer. You sing or play an instrument while recording into UJAM. When you are done, you can alter the sound quality of your voice, turn your voice into other sounds, adjust the tempo of your song, to remix a song to include your tune.
